Now she just had to worry about the fever that was passing through her little group.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the pilot's door of the freighter opening. Looking up she saw one of the children, a yellow twi'lek. The girl stared at Asajj with wide eyes and even without the Force Asajj could feel the girls fear. Asajj looked to the girl blankly and waited. When she didn't speak, Asajj did. "Do I frighten you?"
The girl shook her head but pauses and the bobbed it in a half gesture of assent.
"I do but that is not what is troubling you?"
The girl nodded more firmly just as one of the larger predators bellowed nearby.
"Come here child, and sit with me." Cautiously she did so, all the while staring out into the forest. "Let me tell you a truth. There are very large and dangerous animals out there. Much like on Ryloth. But sitting here, is me. I have been feared throughout the Inner Systems I was the queen of a blood-soaked planet and an architect of," she stops herself from saying genocide. Although it is true, the child doesn't need to know of such dark things at this age. "great pain. I helped to crack the galaxy in half with war and conquered every enemy I have ever faced—including death. I do not tell you these tings to frighten you, but to assure you that any monster out there is nothing to me and I sit her protecting you."
"My monster?" the girl asks hesitantly.
"Most certainly." Asajj is surprised to find the girl smiling at her answer. "Now go and get some sleep. I will guard and in the morning see if I can't find some herbs to help dispel the fevers everyone has."
The girl stand and gives her a quick hug before running back inside. Asajj finds herself blinking back tears.
